Are you craving a charming morning adventure? Look no further than Newport, Kentucky! This vibrant city across the river from Cincinnati offers a delightful combination of delicious food, scenic bike rides, and relaxing green spaces. Let’s explore a perfect itinerary for a refreshing Newport morning.
Press on Monmouth
Our adventure starts in Newport, Kentucky, at Press on Monmouth (421 Monmouth St, Newport, KY 41071). This airy cafe is perfect for a relaxed brunch. My personal favorites are the Goetta breakfast sandwich and the plain waffles. Goetta, a local Cincinnati treasure, is a unique sausage-like dish made with grains (often oats) invented by German immigrants in the mid-1800s. We even celebrate it with an annual Goetta festival!
Red Bike station
After a delicious brunch, especially if I’m with family, we like to take a walk down to the Newport on the Levee entertainment district. From there, we rent bikes from the Red Bike station (129 3rd St, Newport, KY 41071). Exploring the East Row neighborhood is lovely, but my favorite route is across the Purple People Bridge, a pedestrian walkway that connects Newport on the Levee to downtown Cincinnati.
Friendship Park
Friendship Park (1117 Riverside Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45202) is our final stop. This beautiful riverfront park has a Red Bike rental station too, so we dock our bikes and enjoy the scenery. With its variety of paths along the water, it’s a great place to relax. Finding a bench or a spot on the steps by the river is my usual way to unwind after a fun morning.
After a leisurely stroll along the water, you might even be tempted to extend your stay and explore more of what Newport and Cincinnati have to offer. But for now, a relaxed morning filled with good food, exercise, and breathtaking views leaves you feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle the day. So, lace up your walking shoes, grab your appetite, and get ready for a delightful Newport adventure!
